Using the Cards

There are many ways to use the Feeling Cards to build emotional intelligence, alone or with others.

Card for the Day: a simple meditative game:

1. Shuffle well, then hold the deck in your hand and pause.

2. Pull a card, check the image, and read about this feeling in the book.

3. Ask yourself: when did you last feel this, when did you first feel it? When does it come up in your life?

Scenario Approach: explore a question or situation:

1. Shuffle well, then hold the deck in your hand and choose a situation or ask a question you want to explore. Be specific.

2. Spread the cards: face-down for Eastern style, face-up for Western.

3. Pull a card. This could be the answer to your question or just a first clue. Someone in your situation feels this way (it may not be you).

4. Pull four more cards. Arrange all five to give an answer to your question, or an emotional map of your situation.

5. Any time, draw a helper card for side issues.
